Organizing Committee
is made up of the Argentina Basketball Confederation, the Secretary Sports of the Nation, the Ministry of Sports of the Province of Buenos Aires and the Municipal Government of General Pueyrredón.
The committee began work in February 2010 with the goal of ensuring that Mar del Plata to host the event. A delegation composed of Germain Vaccaro (CABB), Gustavo Berta (Nation), Alejandro Rodríguez, Matías Emiliano Sejem and Ojeda (Province) and Pablo Fernández (EMTUR) traveled to Puerto Rico in May 2010 to submit the bid, beating Brazil in the election by 13 to 3.
game mode In the first phase play against each other in two groups of five teams each. The top four qualify for the second phase, each team plays against the four qualifiers from the other group. The top four advance to the semifinals.
Group A: Canada, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Brazil and Cuba.
Group B: Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Panama, Argentina and Paraguay.
Stadium and tickets
The tournament will be held in the Falkland Islands Polideportivo de Mar del Plata (7600). Tickets will go on sale by phone and internet system three months before the tournament, ie in late May.
Olympic Qualifiers
The top two teams qualify to play the Olympics London 2012. The teams that finish in the third and fifth place will have an opportunity to play in the FIBA \u200b\u200bWorld Olympic Qualifying Tournament to be played in 2012.
